The Rocks Sydney historic district viewed on a 6 Hour Sydney City Tour, showing sandstone buildings and the Harbour Bridge in the background.

The Rocks, Sydney

The Rocks is a historic part of Sydney City, best known for its convict history and, shipping warehouses and dockland used since first settlement by the British in 1788. The site of the first landing by the first fleet of ships and where the convicts were housed.

Lady Mcquarie's Chair

You’ll find Lady Macquarie's Chair near the Royal Botanic Gardens, here, we have the perfect postcard view of Sydney's Opera House, The Botanical Gardens and the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Legend has it that Lady Macquarie used to sit on this rock and watch ships arriving from Great Britain into Sydney Harbour.

We cross the Harbour Bridge for views of our Bridge and OPera House on this 6 Hour Sydney City Tour

Milsons Point

View stunning scenes of Sydney from the opposite side of the Harbour Bridge. It's always worth a trip across the Harbour Bridge and down through Kirribilli, from the North Shore scenes of the city are very different, including the shape of the Oper House from this angle. More time can be spent along the North Shore harbourside depending on the length of the city tour.

Bondi Beach the closest and most famous beach in Sydney

Bondi Beach

After some time in the city we head to Bondi Beach, usually via Paddington, and Bronte or Tamarama. We offer an opportunity to walk part of the famous coastal walk from one of these beaches, or a shorter distance from just a little north of Tamarama Beach. Bondi offers great opportunities for lunch. The choice is yours as to how long we spend at Bondi.

Watsons Bay - dingys on the beach looking back to Sydney city skyline

Watsons Bay

Watsons Bay is a perfect lunch stop, offering sweeping views across Sydney Harbour to the city skyline. From the nearby national park, look east over the ocean and across the harbour entrance to North Head, Manly, and Middle Head. Famous for seafood, options range from casual fish and chips to the iconic Watsons Bay Hotel or fine dining at Doyles. Stay and explore or ferry back at your leisure.

Detailed Tour Plan

The City

Start the day exploring The Rocks, Sydney’s oldest neighbourhood, before continuing along Macquarie Street to Mrs Macquarie’s Chair for your first postcard-perfect view. Pass St Mary’s Cathedral, Hyde Park, and elegant colonial buildings before heading east toward the coast.
Your tour also includes a visit across the Harbour Bridge to Milsons Point on the northern side, offering a completely different perspective of the city — the Opera House is especially striking from this vantage point.

Eastern Suburbs, Bondi Beach and Watsons Bay Option

Head through Paddington and Centennial Park, then on to Bondi Beach — Sydney’s most iconic seaside destination. On this tour, you’ll have time to enjoy a short coastal walk, often from Tamarama to Bondi, with stunning clifftop views.

Continue to Watsons Bay, where you can relax and enjoy lunch with harbour views. Doyles on the Beach and the Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel Garden Bar are both excellent options for fresh seafood and relaxed coastal dining.

Alternatively, take the ferry return from Watsons Bay to Circular Quay for a scenic journey across the harbour.

Northern Beaches Option

Cross the Harbour Bridge to explore Sydney’s North Shore, beginning with Milsons Point and continuing to Georges Head Lookout in Mosman, where panoramic views stretch across the harbour to the city skyline.

Stop at Balmoral Beach for a coffee, swim, or sit-down lunch at The Boathouse or Balmoral Pavilion. If time allows, continue to Manly, a lively beachside suburb where you can walk the Manly Corso or take the stunning coastal path from Manly to Shelly Beach. Enjoy oceanfront dining at The Pantry or The Boathouse Restaurant at Shelly Beach, before returning to the city by road or optional ferry ride back to Circular Quay.

Why Choose the 6-Hour Tour

The 6 Hour Sydney City Tour is the ideal balance — long enough to experience Sydney’s famous landmarks, harbour views, and coastal lifestyle, yet compact enough to fit easily into your travel plans.

It allows time for a relaxed sit-down lunch, a stroll along the beach, or short scenic walks without feeling rushed. Many guests choose this as their preferred option for a complete city and beaches experience — covering everything from the Opera House to Bondi, Watsons Bay, and the harbour’s most beautiful lookouts.

Flexible, comfortable, and unhurried, it’s the perfect Sydney day out — just the right length to see it all at your own pace.

We went on the Blue Mountains luxury tour with Mark as our guide. It was a true small group tour in a very comfortable van that was very clean and had great visibility. I am a big guy (well over 6 foot and not skinny) so van space is important to me on tours. The tour was over 9 hours, but the time flew by. The bushwalk was a highlight especially accented by Mark’s knowledge of the flora and fauna. We really enjoyed the time at the wildlife sanctuary and would love to have spent more time there, but all in all our time was managed very well. Mark’s audio commentary was excellent in the van and the sound system performed nicely which tends to be a problem on many tours we go on. We learned a lot about Australia. The bushwalk registered 17 flights and some 10,000 steps on my Apple Watch. The views were breathtaking and well worth the hike.
We had perfect weather in mid April. We were in Sydney on a cruise ship stop for the day. We had complications due to customs, but the communication and accommodation by the company were excellent in arranging our pick up and drop off.
BTW. The lunch was great and we appreciated the recommendations and suggestions from Mark as to what was available.
We have no negative feedback whatsoever for this experience and would wholeheartedly recommend you go with them.

I had booked three private tours. The staff at the office were friendly and helpful. I wanted a German-speaking tour to the Hunter Valley and, despite it being the Easter holiday, Craig had a tour guide for us. As well as the Hunter Valley, Ben also took us to the Blue Mountains. They were two wonderful tours, varied, informative and off the beaten track. At short notice, Ben accommodated our requests, such as cheese tasting. The third tour went to the South Coast. A truly beautiful tour through the Royal National Park, along the south coast to Kiama with a stop at the Minnamurra Rainforest. It’s a real shame that this tour is offered less frequently due to a lack of interest. Andrew was another friendly, helpful guide with a wealth of historical knowledge. All three tours, including those with Ben and Andrew, were fantastic. Many thanks, and I’ll be back 😊
